Giving Your Old Backpack a New Look

10:00 AM

With it still being back to school season, there are a lot of post going around about what to carry in your bag. But, I haven't seen very many about what kind of bag to use for school. Which is where I come in! So, let's talk about it.

Bag vs. Backpack

I am 100% #TeamBackpack! In high school, I tried to carry a bag and all I got out of it was back pain, things constantly falling out, and breaking straps. Going into college, I made sure I carried a backpack. For a while, I was using a JanSport backpack. More specifically, this backpack. *This is not an affiliate link. My Current Backpack

This year, I am giving my JanSport a break and going back to my American Apparel Light Wash Denim Backpack (which is discontinued. Here's the one they currently sell.) This backpack has pretty sturdy straps, is super light weight, but doesn't have many pockets or a place to put a laptop safely.

Let's Get Decorating!

There are several different ways you can decorate your backpack. You can use pins, spray paint, and/or patches.

Pins

This year, I will be decorating with pins. My first pin is the Class of 2014 that I got from somewhere (I don't remember where). But I'm still proud to be apart of the graduated class of 2014! My second pin is from one of my all time favorite artists,  Lights! Her music is amazing and I would really recommend checking her out. The last pin is one my that my best friend Sydney got me during her trip in London, England.

Now, I have more pins, but they're too embarrassing to show here.

Patches

As much as the idea of patches is great, I'm honestly afraid of the permanence of them. But, if you would like to spice your backpack up a little more, I say go for it!

Here are a few places you can get patches from
  • H&M
  • Forever 21
  • Amazon
  • Etsy

Spray Paint

Many people are Spray Painting their backpacks in order to give them a COMPLETE makeover. I mean, the backpacks don't look the same at all. There are several YouTube videos on how to do this. Or you can buy a custom made one from people on Etsy.

But these are just a few ways you can re-vamp your backpack. What are some that you can think of? Share them in the comments or let me know via social media!
