5 Things to do After Moving into College

10:00 AM

Whew... You finally finished moving in all of your belongings and now you're hot and dehydrated. You look around the room and realize that you're not quite done. There are a few things you should do after moving in. Here are some suggestions, just to name a few...

Unpack

I'm sure this is a given, but I thought I'd remind you anyway. I know you'll be really tired after spending a couple hours moving all of your belongs into the room, but if you unpack while its early, you can relax later without guilt. So, grab a cup of water and a snack, and get to work.

Also, while you work on unpacking, leave your door open. It's a great way to find out who's moving in as well and you might make some new friends!

Roam the Campus

Most people do this anyway, but I really do suggest checking out your campus. Even though you might have seen the campus during a tour, orientation, or in your leisure, it's good to do your own roaming just to see what you might find.

It's also a great way to learn your way around and know where your classes are.

Check Out the Campus Bookstore

You might end up spending quite a bit of time here during the first few weeks of school, but it might be nice to check it out with your parents or whoever helped you move in. If you brought your parents, you might find some cool parent gear.

*Plus: What parent doesn't want to rep their child's' college?

Hang Out with Your New Roommate(s)

Although you and your roommate might not be friends forever, it's a great way to get to know who you're living with. People aren't always their true selves online, get to know them in person by inviting them out or checking out the campus dining together.

Get Excited

Now that you've unpacked, roamed the campus, went to the campus bookstore, and got to know your new roommate, it's time to get excited. School starts in a few days and it's something to be excited about. Whether you're a freshman or a senior, starting school is great because it means you're one step closer to achieving your academic goals.

With that said, Congrats and let's have a great year together!
